Windermere House - Contemporary Art Gallery
Welcome to Windermere House a Cape Town Contemporary Art Gallery, a stunning example of 1940s Art Deco architecture nestled near the ocean in a historic coastal area. Originally designed to capture the essence of its surroundings, this timeless residence offers breathtaking views of the wide-open bay and majestic mountains beyond.
Windermere House holds a special place in local history, having been meticulously restored and preserved over the years. Rochelle Bomberg, inspired by the vistas and wide-open bay views, chose Windermere House as a canvas for her large, surreal, semi-abstract expressionist paintings. Today, it serves as her museum, studio, and home, showcasing her artistic vision and creativity.
